So my boyfriend loaned me his large pot a few weeks ago. I made macaroni and cheese with it… and somehow forgot about it. It’s been sitting undisturbed in my kitchen for about 2 weeks. I’ve noticed it sitting there but I forgot there was anything in it and thought it was clean (because it was hidden by a lid).
Now I’m doing dishes, but I’m really disgusted by all the mold. I rinsed it out with water as best I could but it smells so terrible that I’ve set it aside momentarily.
What’s the best way to clean out and sanitize the pot? Should I just scrub it out by hand with regular dish soap and then stick it in the dishwasher? Or is there a better way to disinfect it?
I’m not sure if the pot is dishwasher safe because it’s made out of a different material than my other cookware. Help!?!?????
